Terms of Service

Last updated: 20 May 2026.

These terms govern your use of Ligala (the "Platform") operated by Ligala Inc. By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these terms. This is a plain-language summary; if you need formal legal advice on these terms, please consult counsel.

1. Who we are

Ligala is a marketplace and workspace that connects clients with Philippine attorneys. Ligala is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Any attorney-client relationship is formed between you and the individual lawyer you engage, not between you and Ligala.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • Lawyers must be members in good standing of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines and pass our identity verification before being listed in the directory.
  • You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it current.

3. Engagements and payments

  • Engagement terms (hourly, flat, or contingency) are agreed between the client and the lawyer through the Platform.
  • Payments are processed by third-party providers (PayMongo, PayPal) and settle to the lawyer's merchant account. Provider fees and refund timelines are governed by the provider's terms.
  • Discount codes are issued by individual lawyers and apply only to that lawyer's invoices.

4. Pro bono cases

Lawyers may offer pro bono representation through the Platform. Pro bono cases use the same intake, engagement, and case management tools as paid cases; no invoice or payment is generated.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Misrepresent your identity or qualifications.
  • Use the Platform to harass, defraud, or harm others.
  • Attempt to extract data from the Platform other than your own account data.
  • Circumvent technical controls or interfere with the Platform's operation.

Violations may result in account suspension or termination.

6. Privacy

See our Privacy policy for how we handle your data.

7. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided "as is." We don't guarantee uptime, that any lawyer will accept your case, or that any case will succeed. We disclaim warranties to the fullest extent allowed by Philippine law.

8. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes are announced on the Platform and take effect at least 14 days after notice.
