About Ligala
Ligala is a Philippine legal services platform that connects clients with verified IBP-member lawyers and gives both sides the tools to run an engagement end-to-end — intake, fee agreement, case management, invoicing, payments, and referrals — without spreadsheets and email threads.
Why we built it
The Philippine legal market is fragmented. Clients struggle to find the right lawyer for a specific problem; lawyers spend hours on intake, invoicing, and chasing payments that should take minutes. Ligala is the shared workspace that closes the loop: clients find verified counsel, lawyers run their practice, and everyone has the same authoritative record of what was agreed and what was paid.
What's in the box
- A searchable directory of verified lawyers — KYC-checked through IDMeta, with IBP chapter, practice areas, jurisdictions, and pro bono availability surfaced.
- Cases and engagements — paid and pro bono cases in one place, with digital engagements (hourly, flat fee, or contingency) the client signs before work begins.
- Invoicing and payments — line-item invoices, per-lawyer discount codes, PayMongo and PayPal checkout, an immutable transactions ledger, and admin-managed refunds.
- Referrals — lawyer-to-lawyer case referrals and personal share links that attribute new client signups.
- IBP chapter pages — a public index of chapters and the verified lawyers in each one.
What we're not doing yet
We deliberately ship narrow. At launch we don't do:
- AI legal research (CD Asia integration is on the roadmap, not the launch).
- Multi-office firms — one office per lawyer, for now.
- Cross-platform mobile apps — the web app is responsive; native apps follow demand.
Who's behind it
Ligala is built by a small team in Manila working closely with practicing lawyers across chapters. If you want to talk to us — about a pilot, a partnership, or a feature you wish existed — reach out at hello@ligala.ph.
